Around towns, woods and fields Jiří Fiedler: Photographs and diaries (1948 – 2013)

The exhibition presents the remarkable work of historian and archivist Jiří Fiedler, whose photographs documented thousands of Jewish sites in the Czech lands, including places that no longer exist.

The exhibition Around towns, woods and fields will present the work of the historian and archivist Jiří Fiedler, who spent decades documenting Jewish monuments and traces of Jewish life throughout the Czech Republic.

Fiedler created thousands of photographs documenting synagogues, cemeteries, former Jewish quarters and other sites connected with Jewish history. His work is particularly valuable because it records places and traces of Jewish life that have since disappeared or significantly changed.

The exhibition will offer visitors an opportunity to discover Fiedler’s extensive photographic documentation and his long-term effort to preserve the memory of Jewish heritage across the Czech lands.
