Online Workshop: Who Do Poles See When They See a Jew? Antisemitic Narratives in Popular Culture and What Educators Can Do About Them.

Antisemitism doesn’t always look the way we expect it to. In this workshop, Dagmara Mańka-Wizor draws on POLIN Museum’s most recent research to show how antisemitic images live quietly in popular culture, and what educators can actually do about it.

Since 2022, POLIN Museum of the Histor y of Polish Jews has been investigating how Jews are represented in Polish popular culture, the images, assumptions, and stories that circulate in everyday life, often below the level of conscious awareness. This workshop begins with findings from two research projects (2022 and 2025), alongside recommendations from experts on how to challenge and neutralise false narratives.

The second part of the session turns the question outward: participants are invited to share how Jews are portrayed in popular culture in their own countries, and to work together on strategies that education can use to reshape those images. There will also be space to discuss honestly what doesn’t work, approaches that are well-intentioned but ineffective or counterproductive.

Speaker: Dagmara Mańka-Wizor

Dagmara Mańka-Wizor is a trainer, guide and educator at POLIN Museum, where she has worked for over fourteen years. Since 2015, her work has centred on antisemitism and discrimination awareness programmes for professionals. She is an alumna of Paideia, the European Institute for Jewish Studies, a certified trainer of the CEJI Overcoming Antisemitism programme, a member of the Paideia Institute Board, and leads the Field Advisory Board of Renaissance Hub for Jewish Education in Europe.
