Nearly 50 delegates have already signed up for the AEJM Annual Conference, which will take place in Toledo, Spain in November. The tentative programme is available here, and promises a varied range of interesting lectures, tours, workshops and discussion groups.
We are happy to announce the two keynote speakers, who will each share their perspectives on the conference theme “The Absence of Things”.
Elma Hašimbegović, the director of the History Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina, will address the topic in conversation with Joanne Rosenthal after the opening statements on Sunday.
On Monday, Dr Javier Castaño, CSIC – Spanish National Research Council will discuss the representation of Hispanojewish and Sephardic Material Culture in Spain.
In addition to the plenary sessions, the conference delegates will be able to choose from a number of activities for smaller groups. Among the options area best practice session on accessibility and inclusion, where the Sephardic Museum of Toledo shares their efforts to offer a better museum experience for visitors with visual impairments, and an archival visit to the Toledo Cathedral, which houses manuscripts and documents that illustrate Jewish daily life in the Medieval city of Toledo.
As there are limited places for the concert with Ana Alcaide Trio on Saturday and the optional excursion to Segovia on Wednesday, we recommend signing up for the conference soon.
