MEST 2021: Online School Programmes

This April, AEJM organizes two MEST sessions on Online School Programmes: Primary Schools on 6 April (in collaboration with POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews) and Secondary Schools on 20 April (in collaboration with Jewish Museum London).

Best Practice from POLIN
Get to know best practice in online programming for Primary Schools together with Education Specialist Katarzyna Niewczas and Deputy Marketing Manager Malgorzata Zając from POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews. At the next MEST session on 6 April our Warsaw colleagues will share POLIN’s experiences in developing online learning activities. We will also look closer at the lessons learned from programme evaluation and how the museum adapted its offers.

POLIN’s online classes focus on interactions, asking questions and teaching critical thinking, while using new technologies. The online workshop Joseph and the Shabbat Fish that addresses 7-9 y-old pupils will serve as case study for the MEST session.

Discussion Groups
After the break participants will have the opportunity to get feedback on practical challenges that they encounter in their own work as museum educator at a Jewish museum. In breakout rooms we will work in smaller discussion groups. This part aims at facilitating peer discussion with international colleagues who can draw on their own work experiences.

Initiated by POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews and Oslo Jewish Museum, AEJM’s Museum Education Seminars and Training (MEST) is a new professional development programme that addresses educators from Jewish museums in Europe. The programme consists of a series of online activities, comprising interactive workshops and lectures, exchange of best practice, and peer-to-peer support and network opportunities. Jewish Museum in Trondheim holds a role of as a partner in the programme.
