Job Offer – Curator of the Textile Collection – Jewish Museum in Prague
The Jewish Museum in Prague
home to one of the world’s largest collections of Judaica and one of the most visited cultural institutions in the Czech Republic, is seeking to fill the following full-time position:
Curator of the Textile Collection
Do you have the knowledge, skills, and motivation to work with rare and historically significant collections? If so, we are looking for you — a highly motivated, knowledgeable, and creative individual with experience in a cultural or memory institution, capable of interdisciplinary work and ready to take on the curatorship of a unique collection of historical textiles.
What we’re looking for:
- A completed Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Jewish studies, Hebrew studies, museology, history, art history, cultural studies, or a related humanities field;
- At least three years of professional experience in a cultural or memory institution, including hands-on work with historical materials;
- Demonstrated interest and ability to conduct interdisciplinary research combining various methodological approaches — particularly, though not exclusively, in cultural and social history, Jewish and cultural studies, Hebrew philology, and historical disciplines;
- Creativity and a willingness to explore and apply new approaches;
- Ability to work with multilingual sources and within an international context.
Language requirements:
- English: Native-level proficiency, both written and spoken;
- Czech: At least B1 level (CEFR), preferably higher;
- German and Hebrew: Reading comprehension sufficient for research purposes;
- Additional languages are an asset.

- Precision, reliability, independence, and a high level of commitment to quality and results;
- Strong organizational and project management skills;
- Willingness to align personal research interests with team and institutional priorities;

- Time flexibility;
- Proficiency in Office365 (or Mac equivalents); experience with databases, digital resources, and basic digital/AI tools is an advantage.
Job description:
- Scholarly care, development, and management of the Jewish Museum’s world-class historical textile collection;
- Collaboration with curators and other colleagues on exhibitions, publications, and institutional projects;
- Close cooperation with conservators;
- Coordination with collection managers and registrars;
- Co-authorship and co-curatorship of exhibitions and academic publications;
- Contribution to strategic planning and collection development;
- Authoring scholarly texts and delivering public lectures;
- Participation in conferences;
- Engagement in the museum’s public programming and educational activities.
