Statement of the AEJM Board Concerning the Latest Series of Antisemitic Attacks

Over the past 12 days, Jewish communities in North America and Europe have been facing a series of antisemitic attacks. In and around Toronto, West Bloomfield, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Liège and Trondheim synagogues, Jewish schools, kindergardens and community centers became targets of violent threats and vandalism, while communities report growing intimidation and harassment.

These incidents reflect a troubling pattern in which rising tensions related to Israel and Israeli military operations are followed by attacks against Jews and Jewish institutions around the world. The Association of European Jewish Museums expresses its deep concern over these developments.

As a network of museums dedicated to collecting, preserving and conveying Jewish history, culture, and memory, we stand firmly against all forms of violence and hate directed against Jews and other minorities. Democratic societies must remain vigilant and committed to safeguarding pluralism, historical memory, and the safety and dignity of Jewish communities, all around the world.
