Between You and Me – Memory Boxes by Amos van Gelder and Amit Gur
Between You and Me: Memory Boxes offers a deeply personal exploration of Holocaust memory through the artist Amos van Gelder’s family history. Twenty individuals, all connected to his family’s Shoah legacy, are portrayed in “Memory Boxes”—portrait-filled containers that symbolize treasured memories.
Their experiences are rendered in Hebrew halos, accompanied by narrated recollections via audio and a musical composition by Amit Gur. A connecting diagram throughout the space visualizes relationships, inviting visitors to reflect on how diverse and complex Holocaust narratives can coexist within a single family.
On view from 7 March until 26 October 2025 at the National Holocaust Museum, Plantage Middenlaan 27, Amsterdam
