Dear Friends of the AEJM,
Dear Colleagues,

In the first issue of our Newsletter in 2024, the AEJM Board sends warm greetings to all members, colleagues, and friends and hopes you’ve successfully started the new year. Our thoughts continue to be with our colleagues in Israel, who have been living and working under extreme conditions since the terrorist attacks by Hamas on 7 October 2023 and the war that broke out as a result.

On February 29, from 04:00 to 05:00 PM/CET, we will facilitate a Zoom event with Dr. Orit Shaham Gover, Chief Curator at ANU in Tel Aviv. Orit will give some insights into the challenges faced by Museums in Israel amidst the current conflict and how they manage to continue their work. This event is exclusively open to all members of the AEJM. If you would like to join, please send an email to aejm@aejm.org

At the end of March, we will facilitate an exchange on the impact of 7 October on our field: Are you experiencing a decline in visitor attendance? Are you facing an increase in anti-Semitic letters or comments on Social Media? How do you deal with the psychological effects among colleagues? These questions will be the main focus then. We will provide you with more information soon.

Also, AEJM Annual Conference is set for June 16-18 in Amsterdam. Details on the preliminary program and ticket sales will be available in early March. If you wish to receive early hotel recommendations, including discount codes for three hotels, which our colleagues in Amsterdam have arranged, please send an email to aejm@aejm.org

As always: Thank you very much for your continued support!
