European Days of Jewish Culture 2025
The AEPJ (European Association for the Preservation and Promotion of Jewish Culture and Heritage) is delighted by the wide range of activities that are currently taking place as part of this year’s European Days of Jewish Culture 2025, an annual celebration that showcases the richness, diversity, and vitality of Jewish heritage across Europe.
The European Days of Jewish Culture have been celebrated since 1999, coordinated at the European level by the AEPJ, with the goal of promoting dialogue, recognition and exchange. In 2025, hundreds of activities are programmed or already ongoing across Europe, bringing together cultural institutions, communities, and individuals. Many AEJM museums are also participating with exhibitions and activities.
This year’s edition, taking place from 7 September, 2025 – late November 2025, focus on the theme “People of the Book”, a concept that invites us to reflect on the profound role of the written word in Jewish culture as well as its broader connections with Christianity and Islam.
The term, originating in Islamic tradition to describe Jews and Christians as custodians of divine scriptures, highlights the shared roots of these faiths and provides an opportunity to explore common values, historical ties, and diverse perspectives.
At its heart, “People of the Book” centres on the Tanakh, the foundational text of Judaism, which has inspired generations and influenced philosophy, ethics, and cultural life across Europe. This year’s theme also celebrates Jewish manuscripts, illuminated texts, and literary works as living expressions of creativity, resilience, and identity — bridges between tradition and modernity.
