After making the preservation plan for Etz HAyim Synagogue in 2018, the Izmir Project applied to the Izmir Development Agency for the implementation of the plan. They were happily informed that 75% of the restoration costs will be payed for by the Izmir Development Agency.

The Izmir Project has signed an agreement with the Agency and restoration works will commence in this month, June 2019. The working process will include a consultation service arranged by Kiriaty Foundation of Tel Aviv and architect Naor Mimar and his team.

The restoration of Etz Hayim Synagogue is an important milestone in the making of the Izmir Jewish Museum that will include ten synagogues located in the old Jewish District.
